An art teacher was arrested by Kaukhali police on charge of sexual violence of a minor girl. He was arrested from his residence at Poapara at Kaukhali upazila in Rangamati on Sunday midnight.
The arrestee is Gopal Chandra Nath, 60, an art teacher in the upazila sadar.
On Sunday evening, Gopla allured a seven-year old girl by offering chocolates and took her in the down stair of Meer Super Market at upazila sadar and violated her there. The incident came to the light when it was recorded in a nearby Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras footage. The girl told her parents about the sexual assault by Gopla on that night.
Later, Gopal was arrested following filing of a case with the Kaukhali police station in this connection by her parents.
Locals said same allegation was against the art teacher in the area.
Officer in-charge of Kaukhali police station Mohammed Monjur Alam confirmed the incident.
