In Noakhali’s Subarnachar, a man named Abdul Mannan, 50, was hacked to death by his opponent on 5 August. A human chain rally was held in front of Noakhali Press Club on Wednesday noon to protest the incident and demand punishment for those involved.
Apart from the family members of the victims, more than 300 men and women from Charjabbar Union of Subarnachar Upazila took part in the half-hour long program.
According to the human chain, 10-12 terrorists led by Fazlul Haque and Bahar Member hacked Abdul Mannan to death in the local Kanchan Bazaar on Tuesday night. Four more people were stabbed and injured at that time.
At that time, they demanded the execution of Fazlul Haque Mohorar, GS of Charjabbar Union AL unit, Bahar Member and those involved in the murder accusing that they have been running a reign of terror in the area for a long time.
Charjabbar Police Station OC Shahed Uddin said police have arrested four people so far and attempts are ongoing to arrest others. He also said that Fazlul Haque has already been expelled from the party post and a request has been made to expel Bahar member from the post of UP member too.
