Around Tk 4 Crore toll is collected from Bangabandhu Bridge in the last 24 hours. The people of the northern region are returning home for the Eid holiday and the number of vehicles on the Dhaka-Tangail and Bangabandhu Bridge highways is increasing due to this. As a result, the toll collection rate has increased on Bangabandhu Bridge. The maximum toll collection is around Tk 4 Crore in the last 24 hours.
Bangabandhu Bridge Site Office Executive Engineer Ahsanul Kabir Pavel confirmed this on Saturday morning.
According to Bangabandhu Bridge site office sources, 53,708 vehicles crossed the Bangabandhu Bridge from 12:00 am on Thursday to 12:00 on Friday. Toll of Tk 3,80,63,400 has been collected from these vehicles. Among them, Toll of Tk 2,06,40,000 was collected from 33,025 vehicles on the eastern part of Bangabandhu Bridge in Tangail. On the other hand, Toll of Tk 1,74,23,400 was collected from 20,683 vehicles on the western part of the bridge in Sirajganj.
Executive Engineer Ahsanul Kabir Pavel said the number of vehicles crossing the bridge is increasing due to the holiday. To ease traffic congestion, a total of 18 toll booths with 9 booths on each side have been installed on both sides of the bridge, along with 4 booths for motorcycles. He expressed hope that the Eid journey of the homebound people will be comfortable this year.
