Army-led joint forces on Saturday seized illegal fire arms and ammunition from Kutupalong registered camp in Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
Talking to Bangladesh Post, a concerned army officer confirmed it on Sunday afternoon.
On a secret information, two patrol teams of Ukhia Army camp and Armed Police Battalion (APBN) raided the house of head mazi Md Abdul Goni around 11:20pm on Saturday. The house is located at the Kutupalong registered camp under Ukhiya Upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
After searching the house, the joint forces seized a locally made pistol and six rounds of ammunition. However, the key suspect head mazi Md Abdul Goni was not at his house during the operation.
Joint forces handed over the seized illegal arms and ammunition to the local police station, said the army officer.
A case was filed under the Illegal Arms Act in this connection.
Bangladesh Army will continue such operation to recover illegal arms to maintain peace, law and order in the camps of the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals.
