Considering the Corona situation, Bangladesh Army has stood by the destitute people in Tugpara of Gopalganj, the birth place of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Army personnel provided food aid and conducted free medical campaigns at the time.
Brigadier General Mohammad Monwar Hossain Khan PSC of the 8th Infantry Brigade of the Bangladesh Army as the chief guest distributed the relief items among 150 helpless and destitute people at the Tungipara helipad on Tuesday morning at the initiative of the 55th Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army.
Later, on Gimadanga-Tungipara (GT) Model Government Primary School premises, under the direction of Major General Md. Nurul Anwar, GOC of Bangladesh Army 55th Infantry Division and Jashore Area Commander with the help of 88 Infantry Division, 41-Field Ambulance and 14 East Bengal, a day-long medical camp was held.
A total of 250 patients from different areas of the upazila took service at the medical camp, comprising of 5 military and civilian specialist doctors.
Later, the chief guest said that in the remaining 4 upazilas of Gopalganj, a total of 15 hundred packets of relief will be distributed among the helpless and distressed families by the Bangladesh Army in phases. Besides, such medical campaigns will be carried out only if medicines and medical equipments are provided.
Lieutenant Colonel Md Alamgir Hossain, Commander of 14 East Bengal, Additional Superintendent of Police Nihad Adnan Taiyan, Additional Superintendent of Police Md Khairul Alam, Tungipara Upazila Chairman Md Solaiman Biswas, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Dedarul Islam and Officer-in-Charge AFM including other officers of the army were present.
