Army men have strengthened their activities of assisting the administration in maintaining social distance and preventing coronavirus at in Chittogram and Cox's Bazar.

Upholding the slogan ‘Your well-being is our desire’, the Army men are patrolling district town and upazilas of Cox’s Bazar district. They are visiting shops, pharmacies and bus terminals that are open for emergency purpose, and marked how much distance should be maintained.

To increase public awareness, the Army members distributed masks and leaflets at district town, upazila, village, community and remote areas of the district. They sent people back to their homes who were roaming outside without any need. They directed not more than one people to ride in one rickshaw. They also directed only one person to sit on every two seat on public transport as mandatory.

The overall view of the entire district has changed due to the closure of shops and movement of vehicles. Besides conducting awareness raising campaigns, the Army members are spraying disinfectants at mosques, roads and hospitals in the districts and upazilas as part of the cleanliness program.

It is to be noted that the Army has been working in coordination with the local administration since Wednesday by visiting different areas to ensure home quarantine for those marked by district administration. They received a list of foreign returnees from the district administration to ensure that they remain in home quarantine.

People have accepted all these activities of the Army positively. Without necessity very few people have been seen on the streets. On the other hand, the Army men are working to create awareness about virus among the 11 lakh Rohingyas of 34 Rohingya camp of Ukhia and Teknaf.

In this regard, they are distributing leaflets in Burmese and English language in collaboration with social organisations meeting with Rohingya leaders and volunteers. Beside that, miking in Burmese and English language is also going on in these camps.

At the same time, the establishment of new army checkpoints at the Rohingya camps has reduced the movement of people and all kinds of transport there.

To ensure that Rohingyas do not get out of their homes without need law enforcing agencies are working tirelessly. Also, the administration has closed down unnecessary public meeting places along with shops except necessary ones.
