Md. Nur Alam: In a major secret operation, the Bangladesh Army has arrested a top-tier terrorist and drug dealer, uncovering a significant stockpile of foreign and domestic weapons along with a large quantity of narcotics in the Chanpara area of Rupganj.

The operation, launched late Sunday based on specific intelligence, was carried out by a specialized team from the Purbachal Army Camp. The target, identified as Robin Mia (34), was a key member of a major arms and drug syndicate.

The seized items paint a picture of a serious criminal operation. The haul includes a foreign pistol, a revolver, a double-barreled gun, a dummy pistol, two rounds of bullets, and various domestic sharp weapons. Alongside the arsenal, security forces recovered a massive quantity of drugs, including 222 grams of heroin, 153 pieces of Yaba, and 500 grams of marijuana.

Addressing a press briefing on Monday night, Lieutenant Colonel Faisal Ishtiaq, Commanding Officer of the Purbachal Army Camp, confirmed the details and underscored the army's resolve.

"The Bangladesh Army is working with utmost caution and professionalism to maintain law and order in the country," stated Lt. Col. Ishtiaq. "For us, the real identity is not political identity, but crime. A terrorist means a terrorist, that is the main issue."

He revealed that the arrested individual, Robin Mia, is already implicated in six separate criminal cases. The army commander sent a strong message, vowing that such operations will continue relentlessly to suppress terrorism, control the drug trade, and ensure peace and order across the country.

Confirming the transfer of the suspect, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rupganj Police Station, Md. Tariqul Islam, stated that Robin Mia is now in police custody. The process of formally logging the recovered weapons and drugs as evidence and initiating legal proceedings is currently underway.
