Three persons were arrested allegedly with weapons and ammunition in a joint operation led by the Bangladesh Army in Ukhiya Upazila of Cox’s Bazar district.
This information was shared through a press release issued by the Army to the media on Wednesday morning.
According to the press release, based on specific intelligence information, a special joint operation was conducted at 2:00 AM on Tuesday night in Balukhali Ward No. 1 under Ukhiya Upazila, Cox’s Bazar district. During the operation, Amin, the son of local top terrorist and drug trafficker Zulu alias Zulu Dakat, along with his bodyguard Jane Alam and another Bengali individual, were arrested.
The arrested individuals had long been involved in terrorist activities, brandishing weapons, and various criminal acts in the area, disrupting public safety. The operation was carried out to arrest identified and top-listed criminals and to curb their activities ahead of the upcoming National Parliamentary Election.
During the operation, the joint forces recovered 1 foreign pistol, 1 AK-22 rifle, 1 locally-made pistol, 2 single-barrel guns, 2 locally-made sharp weapons, 1 pistol magazine, 2 rifle magazines, 93 rounds ammunitions, 2 cartridges and 2 walkie-talkie sets.
