The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate has issued a statement clarifying the intent and context behind a recently circulated letter from Army Headquarters, which had led to public speculation and concern.
The letter, which referenced past incidents involving alleged harassment of army personnel by police, was reportedly leaked and widely shared across social media platforms. This prompted interpretations suggesting tension between the Bangladesh Army and the Bangladesh Police.
However, ISPR categorically said that the letter was an internal administrative communication, drafted exclusively to meet a request from the National Independent Investigation Commission, which is investigating the tragic BDR mutiny and massacre at Pilkhana. As soon as the potential for misinterpretation became evident, the Army Headquarters revoked the letter’s effect immediately.
The ISPR warned that a vested quarter is trying to exploit the situation to sow distrust between two key law enforcement institutions—the Army and the Police. The directorate reassured that both forces continue to work together in close coordination and professional solidarity to uphold national security and law enforcement.
ISPR also called upon the public and media to exercise responsibility and avoid disseminating misleading or malicious information regarding the matter.
