A meeting for establishing peace and harmony was held with minorities, local representatives and people from all walks of life organized by Pekua army camp at Cox’s Bazar on Friday.
The meeting was held at the Union Parishad hall room of Barabakia union in Pekua upazila of Cox’s Bazar district at 10 am on Friday. The law and order situation deteriorated during the ongoing crisis and incidents of arson and murder ensued all over the country before the formation of interim government. In this situation, various activities were undertaken to restore law and order situation to normal conditions in the country under the supervision of the Bangladesh Army. The Bangladesh Army continued their discussion with people of various occupations and called upon everyone to assist the army. The harmony meeting was held in light of these recent incidents. Commander of Pekua Army Camp Lieutenant Colonel Yasir Arafat spoke to everyone at the meeting about keeping the law and order situation normal. He said it is the work of the Bangladesh Army to save the country from the enemies. He said “I have to fight the enemies to save the country. Then for whom we are destroying the country, which we are supposed to save, by conducting arsons and vandalism.”
He said that everyone needs to become aware so that no incidents of arson and vandalism can happen. Lieutenant Colonel Yasir Arafat also said this country is the country of students, teachers, farmers, laborers and all communities. The youths and the students have to come forward to develop the country. The Bangladesh Army will take responsibility so that law and order situation does not deteriorate in Pekua upazila anymore. He urged everyone to help the army in maintaining law and order and advised everyone to stay aware. Barabaki Union Parishad Chairman M Badiul Alam, UP Member Md Yunus, Rezaul Karim, Md Alamgir, Belal Uddin, President of Pekua Upazila Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council Aung Thowai Shingh Rakhine, representative of Hindu community Utpal Kanti Nath and others were present in the meeting.
