Army conducts security drill at Matarbari Power Plant

Bangladesh Army on Sunday conducted a security drill at Matarbari Coal-Fired Power Plant. The 1,200 megawatt power plant is located in Moheshkhali Upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

According to the ISPR, the security drill was conducted to build confidence of the local and foreigners who are working in the Project. Armed Forces and other organisations concerned also took part in the security drill.

Major General Ahmed Tabrej, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 10th Division of Bangladesh Army, who is also the area commander of Cox’s Bazar area, was present as the chief guest. 

Besides Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, Coast Guard, Police, Ansar, Fire Service and different intelligence agencies took part in the security drill. 10th Division of Bangladesh Army under the supervision of Army Headquarters organized the security drill.

Matarbari Power Plant is considered as one of the mega projects of the current government.

It is being constructed at 1,600 acres of land under the management of the Coal Power Generation Company. Local people and foreigners are working there. So it is very vital to protect these people during any unwanted incidents including fire incident, workers unrest, terror activities. Considering overall security risk of the project, as part of the preparation, this security drill was held.

Bangladesh Army is ready to ensure security of all the persons working in the mega project.

Military and civil administration watched the security drill.
