Armed young men attacked police, arrested

Three armed young men attacked police while they were being searched at city’s Kadirganj area on Thursday morning. Member of Sheriol Police outpost, Assistant Sub-Inspector Mynul Islam was injured by the attackers. However; finally the members of the mobile patrolling team detained three of them.

The detainees are identified as Avijit Haldar Rinku, 22, son of Ranjit Haldar of Baraigram upazilla in Natore, Amir Hossain, 16, son of Khalilur Rahman of Koyerdara area of the city and a student of class X, under Open University and another student of class X of Sopura Vocational School, Mobarak Hossain, 17, son of Emaj Uddin of Godagari upazilla of the district.

Nibaran Chandra Barman, Officer-In-charge of Boalia Model Police Station, informed on Thursday as a part of routine work. 

However; three young men were going to Shaheb Bazaar road by a rickshaw. Due to suspicion of their activity, police members stopped them and were trying to search their body. At that time, one of them stabbed ASI Mynul Islam and tried to flee.  But other police members chased and caught them. However, after searching their body police recovered a pistol, magazine and six-round ammunitions. ASI Mynul received injury on his thumb, he was given primary treatment. He is out of danger now.  “Legal action will be taken against those arrested young men,” OC added.
