Cultivation of Applekul (plum with the size, colour and taste of an apple) has gained popularity across the country due to its demand for its unique taste as well as colour. Cultivators are also making good profit from the fruit.

Md Aman Ullah, having returned home from Italy, gathered the seeds of ‘Applekul’ from Jessore’s Jibonnagar and started commercially harvesting in the Kamalanagar village of Taranagar union of his home town in Keraniganj.

Applekul, not to be confused with the apple itself is the remarkable result of a highly innovative harvest. Set inside a tightly concentrated space constructed with mosquito nets, this harvest knows no pesticides.

The nets prevent any sorts of pests or birds from interfering with the growth of the fruits. These rare species are the giants of the plum world and are covered in multiple fruity colours combining red, yellow green etc. This is one fruit that is juicy and sweet, has convenience of having multiple plums as one large fruit.
