Dhaka Nagar Paribahan

App-based monitoring soon

The authorities of Dhaka Nagar Paribahan are taking steps to monitor the activities to ensure passenger service. It has been decided to use an app for that purpose.

The bus service has received praise as well as criticism on various issues. Considering this, officials of the service confirmed on Friday that an app-based monitoring system is in works.

According to Dhaka Transport Coordinating Authority (DTCA), the app has been named ‘Jatri Bus Owner' (Passenger Bus Owner). It will have nine categories, however, all the work in these categories have not been finished yet.

However, DTCA has already been able to understand the functionality of many of the categories by conducting several experiments.

The nine categories include: Vehicles, Company, Ride, Tickets, Tracking, Summary, Counter, Wise Report, Supervisor and Way Bill. These can be controlled from Dhaka City Transport Admin Panel.

After the completion of the work, the city transport authority will be able to know all the information separately through the app: how many tickets were sold at a counter, where the bus is located, how many passengers are in the bus, from the counter separately etc.

As a result, the quality of passenger service can be enhanced through a clear idea about which counter is facing more pressure, where there are less passengers, which bus is more stationary etc.

Nilima Akhter, executive director of DTCA and member secretary of bus route rationalisation committee, said, "Through the app, we can understand for ourselves how many tickets are being sold at a counter and where the busses are.”

To sum it up, it is possible to get information about the overall subject through the app. As a result, the quality of service will increase, she added.

She further said that the overall situation can be monitored from any place from the admin panel. Some of the categories of the app are currently in works. Once all the work is done, the overall monitoring can be strengthened.

Dhaka Nagar Paribahan was launched on December 26 with a route as part of the bus route rationalization program to remove chaos in public transport. Within this year, three more new routes are being introduced in this system.
