Apollo Hospitals Chennai, in collaboration with Apollo Clinic Dhanmondi in Dhaka, organised an international Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme for doctors aimed at enhancing knowledge and skills in advanced urological surgery.
The programme, held on Sunday at Apollo Clinic Dhanmondi, brought together nearly 100 Bangladeshi medical students, postgraduate residents and consultant physicians to exchange knowledge with specialists in robotic urology, laparoscopic surgery and endoscopic procedures.
The event featured two scientific sessions titled "Advantages of Robotics in Prostate and Renal Tumors" and "Laparoscopic Adrenalectomy in the Modern Era."
The keynote presentations were delivered by Dr Deepak Raghavan, senior consultant and robotic urology surgeon at Apollo Hospitals Chennai, and Prof Dr Md Nasir Uddin (Kajol), senior consultant in the Department of Urology at Apollo Clinic Dhanmondi.
The programme was moderated by Dr Tamjeed Alam, chief executive officer of Apollo Clinic Dhanmondi.
Organisers said the CME programme further strengthened the partnership between JMI Specialized Hospital PLC, the licensee of Apollo Clinic Dhanmondi, and Apollo Hospitals, one of South Asia's largest healthcare networks with more than 76 hospitals and over 700 clinics across multiple countries.
They said the collaboration aims to provide Bangladeshi patients with access to world-class healthcare services within the country, reducing the need to seek treatment abroad while contributing to the development of the local healthcare sector.
During the event, Apollo Clinic Dhanmondi highlighted its clinical performance, reporting that it has treated more than 15,000 outpatient (OPD) cases, managed over 1,800 inpatient (IPD) admissions and successfully performed more than 1,000 surgical procedures.
The clinic also reported a surgical site infection (SSI) rate of less than 1 percent, attributing the outcome to its emphasis on patient safety and quality standards.
