APBN member admits guilty to Sinha's murder

APBN constable Abdullah has given a confessional statement under section 164 regarding the murder of retired Major Sinha Md. Rashed Khan. He made the confessional statement in the court of Cox's Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah.

A RAB convoy led by the investigating officer of the case produced him in court around 5pm on Wednesday (August 26). Later, the court took his confessional statement till 8:15 pm.

After taking the statement, he was directed to be sent to Cox's Bazar District Jail, said Court Inspector Pradeep Kumar Das.

Court Inspector Pradeep said the investigating officer in the Sinha murder case remanded three policemen from Cox's Bazar-16 APBN on Saturday. The remand of the three of them was to end on August 26.

But among them, Constable Abdullah gave a confessional statement of murder under section 164 and after taking his statement on Wednesday, the court ordered to send him to jail.

The other two members of Cox's Bazar's 16 APBN in the case are ASI Shahjahan and Constable Rajib. They are currently in RAB-15 custody on a 7-day remand.

On August 17, three members of APBN were taken to the RAB-15 office for questioning. The next day, on August 18, the court granted them a seven-day remand after they applied for a 10-day remand, citing their arrest in the case. Later on Saturday, they were taken into custody by RAB for remand from Cox's Bazar Jail.

District prison commandant (district super) Mokammel Hossain said there are currently no accused in the Sinha murder case except four policemen and an APBN policeman in jail. Out of 13 accused, 8 are in RAB custody. The other 5 are in jail.

Khairul Islam, the investigating officer in the case and RAB's assistant superintendent of police, told reporters at the court premises after the remand that the investigation into Sinha's murder case had come a long way. OC Pradeep and other accused are being interrogated.

Meanwhile, dismissed OC Pradeep Kumar Das, Inspector Liaquat Ali and SI Nanda Dulal Rakshit are among the accused in the Rashed Khan murder case and are to be presented to court for a second time after the remand on Thursday.
