APA key to nation’s dev: Food Minister

Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder said that he would like to see the successful implementation of the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) of the Ministry of Food. It does not have to be just a contract. He has said that the APA agreement has an important role in the overall development of the country.

Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder was speaking as the chief guest at the signing ceremony of the APA agreement at the meeting hall of the Food Ministry in the capital on Monday. He said that as the result of timely decision of the Food Ministry, marginal farmers are getting fair price of their crops. Many foxes are stockpiling paddy - paddy will not be bought from them. He also called for intensifying monitoring of food officials in the interest of consumers and farmers.

 Earlier, under the government's performance management system, the Annual Performance Agreement (APA) for the fiscal year 2021-22 was signed with the Ministry of Food and its affiliated departments and agencies.

Food Secretary Dr. Nazmanara Khanum presided over the function, which was attended by senior officials of the ministry, including the heads of departments and agencies under the ministry. Director General of Food Department Sheikh Md. Mujibur Rahman and Chairman of Safe Food Authority Md. Abdul Qayyum Sarkar signed the APA agreement on behalf of their respective departments and agencies. The food secretary signed the agreement on behalf of the ministry.

Later, the Director General of the Department of Food was awarded an honorary crest and certificate between the department and the agency for the successful implementation of the Annual Performance Agreement for the financial year 2020-21. The Food Minister handed over the Ministry of Food's Integrity Award to the Chairman of the Safe Food Authority Md. Abdul Qayyum Sarkar, Joint Secretary of the Ministry Md. Shahnewaz Talukder and Office Assistant Md. Sumon Mia for the financial year 2020-21.
