Anti-liberation forces active to undo achievement

Govt alert against sabotage bid

The anti-liberation forces including Islamic extremists, religious fundamentalists and all terror groups are active in inflicting a crushing blow to the country’s spectacular achievements. They have started all-out sabotage activities before the opening of the country’s most prestigious Padma Bridge. The construction of the Padma Bridge, the most challenging task, has been completed by the present government and the entire credit goes to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her determination. The ruling Awami League which led the country’s Independence War has bagged this unprecedented achievement for which the anti-liberation forces including main opposition political parties are visibly unhappy and they are trying frantically to tarnish the image earned over the decades under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. It is learnt that the all the wings of the terrorists and the extremists are seriously active to continue sabotage activities.

The much-awaited Padma Bridge will be opened for traffic on June 25. Law enforcers fear that the conspirators may divert public attention by carrying out sabotage or destructive activities surrounding the inauguration of the bridge.

Considering the security threat, several meetings were held at the police headquarters in the last few days. Besides, a meeting in this regard was also held at Setu Bhaban on Sunday.

A meeting of the National Committee on Security was held at Ganobhaban on Monday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting. She instructed all concerned to take necessary steps after reviewing the overall situation. 

There were detailed discussions on the inauguration plans of the Padma Bridge, security arrangements across the country, balance of imports and exports, market supervision, current political situation, Rohingya issue and balancing the value of dollar and money.

A senior government official said that the Padma Bridge is a great achievement of the present government. The anti-government clique and domestic and foreign vested interests were engaged in various propaganda from the very beginning. 

The vested groups were still conspiring to confuse the people as well as to embarrass the government. Centering the inauguration event of the bridge, a festive mood is noticed all over the country, especially among the people of the 21 districts. 

Conspiracies are being hatched to destabilize the country by attempting to sabotage and tarnish the image of the country.

The official said that the conspiracies started with the 'story of fictional corruption' from the very beginning of the construction of the Padma Bridge. 

Ahead of the inauguration of the Padma  Bridge, the conspirators have resurfaced. They are making anti-government statements. Indecent and disrespectful remarks have been made against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.  

Following the issues, there have been clashes between Chhatra League and Chhatra Dal in Dhaka University recently. On June 4, a deadly  fire incident occurred at the BM container depot in Chittagong's Sitakunda that claimed the lives of about 49 people and injured more than 200. 

Conspirators may try to intensify the anti-government movement before the inauguration of the bridge. He said anti-government groups and vested interests could engage in rumors and propaganda to embarrass the government, including conspiring to cause damage to the Padma Bridge.

Ashaduzzaman Mia, chief executive officer (CEO) of the National Committee on Security, said that whenever there is an important issue for national security, the high level committee brings it to the notice of the government.

As the Padma Bridge is a landmark milestone in the development activities of the present government, it is under the watchful eye of the National Committee for Security to ensure that no evil forces can be active around it. 

He said that the issues which are considered as a threat to the development of the country, sovereignty and security of the people, are regularly discussed in the committee. 

Former DMP commissioner Ashaduzzaman Mia further said , if anyone hatch  conspires against the country under the guise of politics, he will not be spared. It is the responsibility of the committee to determine who is conspiring and what action can be taken against the conspirators. 

In response to a question, the CEO of the National Committee on Security said that there was a conspiracy at the beginning of the Padma Bridge. Many people directly and indirectly are dissatisfied with the construction of Padma bridge with our own money. 

Those who do not want the development of Bangladesh, they do not like the Padma Bridge. The government, intelligence agencies and responsible administration are wary of them. The concerned quarters of the government are alert to avoid any kind of sabotage. 

Asked what kind of security measures have been taken around the inauguration of the Padma Bridge, DIG (Operations) of the police headquarters Haider Ali Khan said that if there is any information on any possible conspiracies security, they make the intelligence agency more active.

 These issues have also come to the centre surrounding the inauguration of the Padma Bridge. Around the bridge, provocations are already being made from outside the country through social media. Anyone from within the country can do such work, he warned. 

DIG Haider Ali also said that if anyone planssabotage, it would not be successful. We have already brought the conspirators under surveillance. We have taken all necessary steps to ensure that law and order does not deteriorate. The various units of the law enforcement agencies are working through coordination. 

In response to a question, he said, the he conspirators  may try to divert the attention of the people by causing any incident anywhere in the country. So the security of the whole country has been strengthened. 

“Adequate security measures have been directed in all important institutions,” he added.

Asked, Shariatpur SP Md Ashrafuzzaman said, “I shall not say how many levels of security measures have been taken around the Padma Bridge. However, it can be said that all levels are being covered with a security blanket. Hopefully, no untoward incidents will happen.”
