Anti-drug drive continues in Kurigram border areas

The drug world of Kurigram near the border is trembling with the special operations of the police.

Throughout the week, special operations were carried out by police. Thirteen drug dealers, including a young woman, were arrested during the raids.  

Police recovered six grams of heroin, 14 kgs of cannabis, 208 bottles of Phensedyl and 39 pieces of Yaba tablets from them.  

The 13 arrested drug dealers are: Sheikh Saadi (45), Altab Hossain (40), Elias Md. Sohail Rana (35), Sabibar Hasan Shimul (31), Aminur Islam  (40), Sujan Mia (30), Ekramul Haque (38), Alam (29) Ashraful Alam (39), Khorshed Alam Hurka (28), Jasim Uddin (40), Monica Islam Munni (20) and Rabiul Islam (29).  All of them are residents of different areas of Kurigram.

Police said that cases were filed against them. Among them, 13 were against Shaikh Saadi, six against Ashraful Alam and six against Ekramul Haque.

Meanwhile, it has been known that after anticipating the strict attitude of the police the marked drug dealers have gone underground.  Besides, the price of illegal drugs are now skyrocketing.  In this situation, regular drug addicts are in distress.

They are now leaning towards the neighboring districts of Lalmonirhat and Rangpur.

Kurigram Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khan Md Shahriar said Anti-drug special operations are being run under the direction of SP Sir. Raids will be continued to make Kurigram drug free.

He sought the cooperation of everyone to achieve the above mentioned goal. 

Kurigram Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khan Md Shahriar has been awarded the best officer in charge of Kurigram district three times in a row.
