Another ‘learning tour' over

Published : 13 Oct 2024 09:04 PM

After failures in every series or tournament, the issue of ‘learning’ is brought up by the Bangladesh team. Fans have dubbed it an educational tour. But after receiving this education, its implementation is no longer seen. After batting failure the lesson of success is brought again and again by the Tigers. The learning tour of this time is over without achieve anything.

The picture of Bangladesh's batting failure in every match has now become a normal scenario. Along with that there is bad fielding experience. They became failure in every departments of the game.

Bangladesh lost to hosts India in the third and last T20 match by 133 runs at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad on Saturday.

Bangladesh bowling coach Nick Pothus said, “To play against the best teams in the world, you have to learn. You have to learn every day. Whenever you stop learning, you will be in trouble. So, it cannot be an issue.”

Following their historic Test series triumph over Pakistan, the Tigers basked in widespread acclaim and were even honored by the government. However, their fortunes quickly reversed. As they approached the India series, it seemed the Bangladesh team was lamenting, "I am a weary soul, surrounded by the gentle waves of life's ocean..."

The team's morale has been severely dented by five consecutive defeats.

The red-green squad now faces the daunting prospect of a whitewash in the T20 series against India. Despite entering each series with high hopes, the Bangladesh cricket team often ends up disheartened. The mantra of learning from failures is repeated, yet the recurring issue of batting collapses remains unresolved.

Neither the team, the coach, nor the board seems to have a clear grasp of the problem or its solution. Pacer Taskin Ahmed couldn't hide his despair following the embarrassing loss in the  T-20 series. He openly shared their disappointment.

Taskin remarked, "I am part of the team, and as a player, despite playing for a long time, we haven't made significant strides in T20 cricket. This is our failure. But it's not for lack of effort; it's just not happening. Even in favourable conditions, we often falter, even on good wickets. Our progress in T20 is minimal. There's nothing we can do now but try. Everything is decided by the board. We cricketers can only give our best. If we fail, we must strive to improve each time, and that's all."
