Another female doctor died of dengue at Dhaka Medical College Hospital early on Friday, while a teacher of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College died in a hospital in city in the morning.
The deceased was identified as Mosammat Sharifa Binte Aziz, 2, daughter of Aziz Bhuiyan of Joypara village under Dohar upazila in Dhaka; and Morsheda Begum, a teacher of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College.
Dr Sharifa died at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital at about 5:00am while undergoing treatment there. She was admitted to the ICU on Thursday afternoon.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital police outpost in-charge Md Bachchu Mia confirmed the matter. “A female doctor namely Sharifa Binte Aziz was brought to the hospital with dengue fever from Dohar in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon. She was immediately admitted to ICU,” he said.
He also said that the body was handed over to her family members after completing legal process.
Sharifa completed her MBBS degree from Rangpur Medical College and Hospital and was studying FCPS at the DMCH. Family sources said that Sharifa was suffering from fever four days and undergoing treatment at Islami Bank Hospital. Later, Sharifa was shifted to the DMCH on Thursday afternoon as her condition deteriorated.
Earlier on August 7, another female doctor Dewan Almina Mishu, 32, died at the ICU of DMCH. She was a 39th BCS cadre officer. She was undergoing treatment at the DMCH intensive care unit since August 1.
On the other hand, Morsheda Begum breathed her last around 6:30 am while undergoing treatment at Insaf Barakah Kidney & General Hospital at Moghbazar in the city.
Viqarunnisa Noon School and College Principal (Acting) Keka Roy Chowdhury and Morsheda’s colleagues confirmed the matter.
They said Morsheda has recently been infected with cancer and fell ill after taking the first chemotherapy. Later, she underwent a Dengue test and the result came out positive, they added.
