Another 250 get houses in Satkhira

Another 250 homeless and landless families on Tuesday got new houses in Satkhira. The beneficiaries received keys of houses and documents of the lands. They got the houses in the fifth phase. Satkhira district was announced homeless and landless free district with the handing over of the new houses.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina virtually joined the programme organized at the Satkhira Sadar Upazila Auditorium on Tuesday. Deputy Commissioner of Satkhira Muhammad Humayun Kabir handed over the house keys and land deeds to the homeless and landless families on behalf of the Prime Minister.

Satkhira Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shoiab Ahmed presided over the programme.

Humayan Kabir said on this occasion that no statesman in the world like the Prime Minister of Bangladesh has shown the courage to build houses for the homeless and landless. These poor people would not have a place to stay if they did not get the government allocated house.

He also said that 3,227 homeless and landless families in Satkhira have got houses from first phase to fourth phase. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today handed over 18,566 more houses to the homeless and landless families, including the 250 houses of Satkhira, across the country, he added.

District Administration Office sources said 3,367 houses have been handed over to the homeless and landless people in the district so far.   

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shoaib Ahmed, Female Vice-Chairman of Sadar Upazila Parshid Kohinur Islam, Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Sadar Upazila Atish Sarkar and others were present there.
