Another 14-day lockdown from July 23

The government imposed a further lockdown for two weeks from July 23 to August 5, according to a gazette notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Tuesday.

The lockdown will be effective a day after the Eid-ul-Azha as the government has relaxed the restrictions for eight days from July 15 to July 22.

Although the government has taken the decision to relax the ongoing lockdown with a view to easing the travel of homebound people, it asked all to wear mask and follow strict Coronavirus health guidelines to stem the spread of the lethal virus.

To contain further spreading of corona virus infections, a 23-point restrictions will be enforced from July 23 with an instruction of closure of all government, semi-government,  autonomous, private offices along with travel restriction on road, rail, river and domestic aviation services during the lockdown. All kinds of shops including shopping malls, markets along with all types of tourism centre, resort, community centre and recreation centre also will remain closed under the new restrictions. Apart from industries, all sorts of gatherings, including birthday party, picnic, political and religious gatherings will remain suspended during the upcoming lockdown.

The Supreme Court will issue necessary instructions for the respective courts. Bank, insurance companies and financial institutions at the same time will issue necessary instructions for operating these respective entities.

The new restrictions have asked all the government employees to remain standby at their respective working stations and complete their official works on virtual form.

Officials of the law enforcing agencies, emergency services like agricultural products and ingredients, food crops, food transportation, selling, distribution, healthcare services, COVID-19 vaccination, NID distributions, revenue earning activities, power, water, gas, fire services, telephone, internet, mass media, private security system, post, bank, visa providing activities, social safety programme, pharmacy and pharmaceuticals will be allowed to travel in accordance with showing their respective identity cards.

Emergency cargo transportations including truck, lorry, cavard van, vessel, cargo train, ferry, all land ports and its adjacent offices will be excluded from the purview of the restrictions.

But essentials at kitchen markets will be sold from 9am to 3pm daily following proper health rules and the kitchen market authorities and the local administration will ensure the matter.

No one will be allowed to go outside of the homes except any emergency like drug and essentials purchase, health care services and funerals of the dead body.

Food shops, hotel and restaurants will be allowed to sell food through online from 8am to 8pm.

International flight will remain in operation and the foreign flight passengers will be allowed to travel by showing their international travel ticket. The religious affairs ministry will give instructions regarding prayers in the mosque.

The Armed forces division will deploy necessary number of troops to ensure effective patrolling at the field level under the rules of Army in aid to civil power. The district magistrate will ensure this after corresponding with the local military commander. The public administration ministry will ensure appointment of necessary number of executive magistrates at the field level.

It should be mentioned that since corona infection was detected first in the Month of March last year, the government at first announced public holyday for 66 days from March 26 last year.

Later, in another decision, the government imposed a ban on the movement of public transport for one week from April 5. And a 10 day-long countrywide lockdown from April 11. When the number of deaths and infection by the virus started to increase, the government imposed two week-long lockdown from July 1.
