Annual performance planning for dev programmes stressed

Academics and researchers at a meeting in Rajshahi on Friday said annual performance planning is very important for making any development programme successful and sustainable, reports BSS.

Present status and future planning of any institution can be exposed through successful implementation of the performance planning, they told the daylong workshop titled “National Integrity Strategy and Annual Performance Management” at Rajshahi University (RU).

Member of University Grants Commission (UGC) Prof Shah Nawaj Ali addressed the workshop as chief guest while RU Vice-chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan presided over it.

RU Pro-Vice-chancellors Prof Ananda Kumar Shaha and Prof Chowdhury Jakaria and Treasurer and Registrar Prof Abdul Bari also spoke on the occasion.

In the technical session, Deputy Secretary Jakiya Pariveen from the Ministry of Education and its Senior Assistant Secretary Fazlur Rahman, Senior Assistant Secretary from Cabinet Division Aloul Kabir and Senior Assistant Director Nazrul Islam and Senior Assistant Secretary Rabiul Islam from UGC presented keynote papers on various issues.

Prof Shah Nawaj Ali said the present government has adopted the performance planning for making the country’s development and other regular works effective.

As part of the efforts, annual performance planning between UGC and all universities under it has been formulated, he added.

Prof Ali also said integrity, honesty and sincerity are very important in any performance and the universities including RU should operate their administrative and academic activities with utmost sincerity and honesty.
