For the first time Kolkata’s renowned singer and actor Anjan Dutta is going to perform on stage in Bangladesh. The title of the drama is ‘Salesman-er Sangsar’. The drama has been directed by Anjan Dutta and is also playing an important role in the play.
Chhapakhanar Voot, a leading publishing organisation organised the staging. The drama was supposed to be staged at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) on Tuesday. But, due to various reasons the drama was not staged at BSA.
The later decided Benue for the drama was selected as Mahila Samity at Baily Road. The convener of the programme Sazzad Hussain said, “This decision has been taken due to some complications at the previous venue.”
Anjan Dutta’s play is not to be staged at such a high price, so the drama troupe ‘Natuke’ was instructed to not leave the National Theatre Hall allotted to them. BSA’s drama division took this decision on Sunday evening. It is noteworthy that the organisers of the play jointly organized Anjan Dutta’s play with the drama troupe ‘Natuke’.
But the price of tickets for the play ranges from taka 1500, 2000, 3000, this is the reason he authorities of BSA have decided to withdraw from the plan to jointly organise the show.
Sources in BSA said that, “I a play is targeted to be staged with a commercial purpose with such a high value then it will have negative impact on the drama scene. That is why the drama division of BSA has instructed the theatre troupe ‘Natuke’ to not leave the hall on the high priced ticket.”
Other than the drama staging a new book will also be unveiled. Sajjad Hossain’s book ‘Natyanjan’ will be unveiled which tells the tale of Anjan Dutta’s acting life. There will also be musical performances too.
