Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq on Sunday underscored the need for concerted efforts of all to prevent human trafficking.
“Human trafficking and migrant smuggling cannot be prevented by a single organization or an agency or entity rather concerted effort of all concerned is required in this regard,” he said.
He was speaking as the chief guest at a training workshop on national and international legal framework on human trafficking and problems arising in its practice at a city hotel, a press release said.
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Law and Justice Division of Ministry of Law in Bangladesh jointly organised the workshop with the participation of 22 judges of Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal, the release added.
Law and Justice Division Secretary Md Golam Sarwer presided over it.
Head of Co-operation of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Bangladesh Maurizio Sian, Judges came from the United Kingdom (UK) Michelle Brewer and Hina Rai and Policy Lead of the Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling Section of UNODC GLO.ACT Samantha Munodawafa were present, among others.
