Andrew Kishore no more

Legendary playback singer Andrew Kishore has died on Monday evening at the age of 64 after a long battle with cancer.
According to his brother-in-law Dr Patrick Bipul Biswas, He died at around 7:00pm.

Andrew Kishore was suffering from cancer for a long time. After returning from Thailand following extensive treatment he went to his home town of Rajshahi. But recently his health condition took a turn for worse.

In a facebook post, Andrew Kishore wife wrote: “The last stage of cancer is very painful. Everyone please pray for Andrew Kishore for less suffering and so that he may leave this world in peace.”

“I think that Kishor is not only a part of my family or a part in the lives of our children rather he is a treasure for our country. So it is my responsibility to say or inform these words to his fans,” she added.

Andrew Kishore won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer eight times for the films Boro Bhalo Lok Chhilo (1982), Surrender (1987), Khotipuron (1989), Padma Meghna Jamuna (1991), Kabul (1996), Aaj Gaye Holud (2000), Saajghor (2007) and Ki Jadu Korila (2008).

Andrew Kishore started taking music lessons at the age of six under Abdul Aziz Bachchu, the then chief music director of Rajshahi Betar. He had rendered more than 15,000 songs in movies, earning him the moniker of ‘playback king’ in the Bangla film industry.
