Ananya Prokashoni launches Masud Karim’s 800 Gaaner Shongkolon

Masud Karim’s work has surpassed his name and as a result, he cannot be well introduced to people without a bit of effort. 

The base of country music in Bangladesh is entwined of tracks like --- Tandra Harano Noyon Amar, Shojoni Go Bhalobeshe Eto Jala, Chole Jae Jodi Kew Badhon Chhire, Ami Rojoni Gondha Fuler Moto, Jokhon Thambe Kolahol and other great songs have been written by Masud Karim. 

Many renowned singers including Shahnaj Rahmatullah, Runa Laila, Sabina Yasmin, Syed Abdul Hadi, Mahmudunnobi, Mohammad Khurshid Alam have enriched the scene of Bengali music through giving vocal to his lyrics.

Not only have the singers of our country sung his song but also prominent Indian artistes also have given voice to his written lyrics. Some of the prominent names are Shyamol Mitra, Bhupen Hajarika, Udit Narayan, Kumar Shanu.

Taking songs from radio and television which have been written by Masud Karim, the book ‘800 Ganer Shongkolon by Masud Karim’ has been compiled. 

The book was launched at the Channel-i building in the capital last Thursday. The book has been edited by Masud Karim’s wife Dilara Alo and has been published by Ananya Prokashoni. Renowned singer Khurshid Alam, actor Keramat Maola, Syed Abdul Hadi, Dilara Alo and Shykh Seraj were present at the ceremony.

Masud Karim was born at Kumarkhali in Kushtia. He died of cancer at Montreal in Canada on November 16, 1996.
