Super Cyclone Amphan has caused a loss of Tk 3 hundred 15 crore and 99 lakh in Satkhira. The losses include agriculture, fisheries and livestock. According to the information given by Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Satkhira SM Mostafa Kamal, the cyclone has caused a loss of Tk 176 crore 3 lakh in 12,257 fish farms.
A total loss of Tk 137 crore 61 lakh 30 thousand has been incurred in agriculture. Of that, Tk 65 crore 16 lakh 40 thousand in Mango farming, Tk 62 crore 18 lakh in vegetable farming, Tk 10 crore 22 lakh 40 thousand in betel leaf farming and Tk 4 lakh 50 thousand loss was incurred in sesame farming.
Cows, goats, ducks and chicken farmers have lost Tk 95 lakh 36 thousand 616 due to the impact of Amphan in Satkhira. Besides, a total of 83,431 houses were destroyed in the district. Of these, 22,515 have been completely destroyed and 60,916 have been partially damaged.
It is to be noted that the amount of money lost caused by those damaged house was not mentioned in the account announced by the deputy commissioner. Satkhira Deputy Commissioner SM Mostafa Kamal said 81 km of roads in the district were damaged. Besides, 56.50 km flood control dam has been damaged. However, he added that work has already started on compiling a list of affected people and rehabilitating them.
