Amjad Hossain’s death anniv today

Today is the first death anniversary of renowned director, actor, writer and producer Amjad Hossain. On this day of last year, he breathed his last at Bamrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok.

The Bangladesh Film Directors Association has organised a discussion meeting and a prayer ceremony at BFDC on the anniversary of Amjad Hossain. The programme will start at 11am. Besides, various arrangements have been made in Jamalpur, his birthplace.

A mourning procession will be held with the participation of 70 organizations including Udichi, Khelaghar in Jamalpur. The procession will be headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Jamalpur and the Principal of Ashek Mahmood College, will start at 10am at the Kamaltala intersection and will end at the grave of Amjad Hossain.

Amjad Hossain was admitted to Impulse Hospital in Tejgaon on November 18 of last year due to bleeding of the brain. He was treated in the ICU of the hospital. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina assured of taking responsibility for his treatment within three days of admission to the hospital after hearing about the physical illness of the celebrated director.

Amjad Hossain received Tk 20 lakh for advanced treatment costs and Tk 22 lakh as air ambulance cost.

‘Ballobandhu’, ‘Pitaputra’, ‘Ei Niye Prithibi’, ‘Banglar Mukh’, ‘Nayanmoni’, ‘Golapi Ekhon Traine’, ‘Shundori’, ‘Koshai’, ‘Jonmo Theke Jolchhi’, ‘Dui Poyshar Alta’, ‘Sokhinar Juddho’, ‘Bhaat De’, ‘Hiramoti’, ‘Praner Manush’, ‘Shundori Bodhu’, ‘Kal Shokal’, ‘Golapi Ekhon Dhakae’, ‘Golapi Ekhon Bilete’ and many other films have been directed by Amjad Hossain. He has been awarded numerous awards including National Film Award.
