Amitabh’s ‘Rickshaw Girl’ to premiere in Manhattan May 5

Amitabh Reza Chowdhury's worldwide award-winning film titled ‘Rickshaw Girl’ is set to premiere at the famous movie theatre ‘Village East by Angelika’, courtesy of Bioscopes Films in Manhattan, New York on May 5, said a press release.

‘Rickshaw Girl’ director Amitabh Reza, executive producer Assaduzzaman Sokal, co-producer Mahjabin Reza, protagonist Novera Rahman, and Momena Chowdhury, alongside others, will be present at the Manhattan premiere.

Movie lovers present there will have the opportunity to meet the associated cast and crew members. The audience will also get the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with the director.

Regarding the context Amitabh Reza, the director of ‘Rickshaw Girl’, said, ‘We are visiting famous cities and various film festivals to reach audiences outside Bangladesh and showcase Bangladeshi cinema on the world stage. This is an inexplicable feeling to have ‘Rickshaw Girl’ premiere in such a culturally diverse city as Manhattan.’

 ‘I hope the people in Manhattan will enjoy the film since the writer of the middle-grade novel on which ‘Rickshaw Girl’ is based is from the United States and the book is already quite popular,’ he added.

‘Aynabaji’ famed director Amitabh Reza’s highly anticipated film ‘Rickshaw Girl’ is based on a middle-grade novel by Indian-American writer Mitali Perkins. The film’s main character is a teenager named Naima who takes up rickshaw pulling as a profession; Novera Rahman played the role of Naima.

The film also stars Champa, Momena Chowdhury, Naresh Bhuiyan, Allen Shubro, and others. The screenplay was co-written by Naseef Faruque Amin and Sharbari Zohra Ahmed.

‘Rickshaw Girl’ has received critical acclaim and won awards in various film festivals, including the Prescott Film Festival in the United States and the SCHLiNGEL International Film Festival in Germany.

‘Rickshaw Girl’ is a joint production of Bangladesh and the United States. The producers are Ziauddin Adil, Faridur Reza Sagor, and Eric J Adams.
