The advisory committee formed for the development of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) has suggested to ensure the implementation of the law and amend the City Corporation Act to increase the revenue of CCC.

CCC administrator Khorshed Alam Sujon said the suggestion came at a committee meeting held at the Tigerpass CCC building on Saturday.

At the meeting, Khorshed Alam Sujan said, “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has advised all investors to come while, she is constructing a tunnel under the Karnafuli river to facilitate investment.  The railway line is going from Chittagong to Ghumdhum.  It will later be added to China via Myanmar”.

Then the huge golden door of the country's economy will open.  With the launch of Bay Terminal, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet and other countries will be able to use the port through multilevel connectivity, he added.

“The port of Chittagong is enjoying the most benefits in this city due to its geographical location.

A sustainable economy requires productive ports.  And a productive port needs a vibrant city.  If the city is not active, how will the port be active?  NBR is taking a lot of money from customs.

Why don't you give me one percent dividend from there”, said the CCC administrator.

The meeting was attended by Acting President of Nagar Awami League Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury, former CCC Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin, Daily Azadi Editor MA Malek, former Mayor Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury and others.

The CCC administrator has formed a 17-member advisory committee to seek the advice of eminent persons to build an aesthetic, eco-friendly and developed Chittagong city.

At the end of the meeting, the CCC administrator told reporters that those who do not pay taxes even after enjoying the benefits of the city corporation will not be able to enjoy the benefits of CCC.

Besides, efforts are being made to collect a certain amount of money from Chittagong Port, BPC and other government institutions which earn using the city.

The advisory committee has given some suggestions in this regard.
