Amazon launches ‘Kindle Colorsoft’

Published : 18 Oct 2024 10:43 PM

Amazon has introduced its first colour Kindle e-reader, the "Kindle Colorsoft," after years of development. Priced at $280, it competes with similar devices ranging from $149 to $330. The Colorsoft uses LEDs and advanced technology to create its colour display.

This tech report, written by Greg Bensinger, was posted on Reuters on Thursday.

Unlike traditional Kindles that use eInk and offer longer battery life, the Colorsoft lasts about eight weeks. For comparison, the latest Paperwhite can last up to three months.

Amazon also unveiled a new 7-inch Paperwhite, slightly larger than previous models, and an updated Kindle Scribe. The Scribe allows users to write on the screen with a stylus, converting notes into clear text. AI software can summarise in-book notes into bullet points.

With over 75% of the e-reader market, Amazon remains a leader in the space. The Colorsoft will ship on October 30, while the Scribe is set for December 4.
