Amar Ekushey observed in Benapole no man’s land

Forgetting the geographical boundaries, citizens of two parts of Bengal presented the victory song of the Bengali language on the same stage. Defeated the barbed wire of the border. The Benapole check post at no mans land was awash with flowers on Tuesday morning to mark International Mother Language Day.

At around 12 noon, a team from Bangladesh led by State Minister of Bangladesh Swapan Bhattacharya, MP Afil Uddin, former MP Monirul Islam arrived at the foot of Shaheed Minar in No mans land, West Bengal State Government MLA Biswajit Das, MLA Veena Mandal, MLA Biswajit Das, Bangaon Municipal Chairman Shri also reached there. Thousands of Bengali-speaking people from India, led by Gopal Shed, former MP Mamata Tagore, greeted the Bangladeshis by sprinkling flower petals and offering sweets.

The language day is organized by Heli Mukti Jodha Sangsad, Municipality and Weekly Illuminated Frontier and Balurghat Ujjivan Society of India and Balurghat-Meghalaya Corridor Committee, Rainbow Society.

Later artists from both countries performed various poems, dances and songs on the occasion of International Mother Language Day.

India's Balurghat Rainbow Society leader Shubhankar Sahib Roy and member Anyanya Pahan performed dance.

Upazila Parishad Chairman Haroon Ur Rashid was the chief guest in the event. Hakimpur Mayor Jamil Hossain Chalant was the special guest. Also present at this time were administration officials, Awami League, municipalities, business organizations of land ports, representatives of social organizations and civil society, brave freedom fighters and journalists.

Suraj Das, general secretary of India's Balurghat Ujjivan Society and publisher of the weekly Northern Sunday newspaper, said that Amar Ekushe and International Mother Language Day were organized by the two countries at the Heli zero line. Many people are still wearing masks. We need to be more vocal.

Shubhankar Roy, leader of Rainbow Cultural Academy, said, "I really wanted to come to Bangladesh and celebrate the language.

Today I am successful. Overcoming all the adversities, mother tongue should be cherished and move forward.

After exchanging garlands, sweets and flowers, many emotional people of both the countries hugged each other.
