A suspected criminal was killed in a reported gunfight between his cohorts and the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Kothbaria village under Bhujpur police station on early Thursday, reports BSS.
The identity of the deceased could not to be known immediately, said Assistant Director of RAB-7 Mashqur Rahman.
Acting on a tip off, a team of RAB conducted a drive in Sikdarpara area of Kothbaria village under Bhujpur thana around 3:40 am. Sensing presence of the elite force, the criminals opened fire targeting RAB men that prompting them to retaliate, triggering a gunfight.
At one stage, one of the criminals caught in the line of fire and died on the spot, while the others associates managed to flee the scene, Mashqur Rahman said. An AK-22 and sixty-three bullets were recovered from the spot.
