Office Assistants of Melandah Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) have been accused of massive irregularities, corruption and forgery of official signatures. Since there is no responsible officer for a long time, the land owners of the area are being deprived of land services with various harassments.
According to the complaints of the land owners, the office assistant Shamim, computer operator Al Amin, Sayrat Assistant Siam and Farzana working in the office of the Upazila Assistant Commissioner (land) have been involved in taking advantage of the land owners along with various irregularities and corruption. Related sources, the post of Assistant Commissioner (Land) has been vacant for a long time in Melandah Upazila. Therefore, the UNO performs additional duties in that position in providing land services.
Sampati UNO Lutfar Rahman, corrupt Office Assistant Shamim are extorting Tk 15/20 thousand for each Namzari from the land owners by canning the signature of the transferred Executive Officer Lutfar Rahman. By the process they are earning huge money with more than hundreds of Namzari DCRs.
Hundreds of land owners are in dire straits as holdings are not opened due to non-signature of Executive Officer/Assistant Commissioner (Land) in the register of Misc. These distressed land owners need land urgently.
On the other hand, the computer operator Al Amin, Sayrat Assistant Siam and Farzana working in the office of the Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) have turned the office into a paradise of corruption due to the fact that the post of Assistant Commissioner (Land) is vacant and even absent from the office.
Instead of the government fee of Tk11,500 they are taking Tk 2,200 to the employees of multiple tehsil offices who do not want to reveal their names, for the sake of declaring the names of each mis-case DCR.
Apart from this, the owners of the land who go directly to them are getting double money and are turning into banana trees overnight. As if no one is watching. And many of the land owners are complaining about the application being canceled by not granting the mis-cases which are not being remedied.
In this regard, when the Office Assistant Shamim was asked about the non-signature of the authority in the register of miscases and the forged signature by canning the signature of the former officer, he was unable to give any answer.
Later he said, due to the sudden transfer of Sir, it was not possible to get the signature. However, I have spoken with Sir, he is working in Kapasia upazila, I will go there and get the signature. When asked about taking 15/20 thousand taka for each nomination, he first denied it. Later he got angry .
On the other hand, when asked about computer operator Al Amin, Sayrat assistant Siam and Farzana . All of them said that the allegations are baseless.
They advised to lalk to UNO Sir . The newly-appointed UNO Mahbooba Haque said that she is not aware of the new addition regarding financial transactions. However, she said that he will look into the matter.
In this regard, Jamalpur Deputy Commissioner Shafiur Rahman was busy with work. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Saiful Islam said that he will tool after on the irregularities and corruption and take necessary action against the culprits.
