The next general election will be held in a free, fair, neutral, transparent and festive manner with the participation of all, said Education Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Dipu Moni.

She said, “Awami League is a democratic and electoral party. We have not taken the responsibility of running the country in any other way except by election, nor is it possible to do so. We are always election-oriented.”

She made the statements while responding to reporters’ questions after inaugurating a workshop on review of Secondary Education Development Programme (SEDP) at BRAC CDM Center in Savar’s Ashulia on Wednesday.

Mentioning that BNP took part in the last election also, Dipu Moni said, “Since they (BNP) are a political party, our expectation is that they will definitely take part in the upcoming national elections as well.”

The Minister mentioned that the Awami League wants to come to power by winning the elections, not by force.

“However, the BNP is trying to come to power through the back door after failing in their movement,” she added.

The Education Minister hoped that the next general elections would be held in a free, fair and impartial manner under the present government.

“There is no doubt that the government will hold free and fair elections. Therefore, I hope all parties will take part in the election,” she said.

She further said that the government has taken various steps to compensate for the loss of education during the Covid-19 period.

“Strict action would be taken against the schools if an additional fee is charged for the eighth-grade registration fee,” she said.

Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Division Md Abu Bakar Siddique and Director-General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Prof Nehal Ahmed were present during this time, among others.
