Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (Ansar-VDP) Director General Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud on Tuesday visited two puja mandaps—the Sri Sri Gouri-Nitai Akhra Dham in Madhabdi, Narsingdi, and the Chinitala Chandi Temple in Rupganj, Narayanganj—to review security during Durga Puja 2025.
The visits were part of ongoing measures to ensure law and order throughout the festival.
The DG said that security had been strengthened with the joint efforts of law enforcement agencies and that provocations and rumours had been successfully countered to maintain peace.
“Our law enforcement agencies are in a very strong position. Ansar-VDP is always alert to foil any conspiracy against communal harmony,” he said.
Describing communal harmony as part of Bangladesh’s heritage, he added that conspiracies would “be reduced to dust” through unity and coordinated action.
Later in Rupganj, the DG said the collective efforts of security forces and citizens had built a strong security shield, ensuring all attempts at unrest were thwarted. He assured that such vigilance would continue during the upcoming national election.
He expressed optimism that members of the Hindu community would be able to celebrate Durga Puja peacefully this year.
Deputy Directors General Md Saifullah Russel (Operations) and Md Ashraful Alam (Dhaka Range), Narsingdi Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Anwar Hossain, Police Superintendent Md Menhazul Alam, and other senior civil and military officials were present during the visits.
