All passenger flights with 10 countries suspended

To prevent the spread of the pandemic coronavirus, the government has canceled all international flight operations except four countries. Commencing at midnight today, the decision will remain effective until March 31 next.

The Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB) issued a NOTAM (Notice to Airman) in this regard on Saturday.

"All scheduled international commercial passenger aircraft departing from Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Turkey, Malaysia, Oman, Singapore, and India will not be allowed to land at any international airport in the country", stated the notice.
"Scheduled flight operations on the UK, Bangkok, China, and Hong Kong routes will continue until further notice", added the NOTAM.

On the other hand, as per the government decision, international flight operation at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong has been completely closed.

Flights from China, Thailand, and Hong Kong will arrive at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) while the flights from the UK will arrive at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet.

Civil Aviation Authority Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md. Mofidur Rahman while talking to newsmen at HSIA airport on Saturday said, "Flights are being allowed only from the safe destinations, to halt the spread of coronavirus, other international flights are suspended".
