All must fight dengue together: LGRD Minister

Government and City Corporations are working earnestly to tackle the dengue situation Dengue control is difficult without public participation and awareness. Everyone should work together to fight dengue.

Md Tajul Islam, Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives said these things after visiting the 'DNCC Dedicated Covid Hospital' in Mohakhali of the capital on Thursday (November 03) morning to deal with dengue.

The minister said, we have to be more aware at the individual level. The Minister called upon everyone to participate in the fight against dengue that we can play the highest role at the individual level so that water does not accumulate in AC, roof gardens, new buildings or anywhere.

Local government minister said, 'DNCC Dedicated Covid Hospital' is now ready for dengue treatment. Out of 1000 beds 6 CODIV patients are being served separately. 105 dengue patients are admitted in this hospital and about 400 more beds are ready for dengue treatment. There is no shortage of treatment for dengue.

The minister said that due to climate change, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam have been affected more than Bangladesh. Dengue situation is more than before. This year the weather is different than before. Now the dengue outbreak is increasing due to intermittent rains, which is painful. During other years, dengue is not so much.

The minister said that the ministry along with the mayors of the city corporation are regularly monitoring the Aedes mosquito control. All kinds of support are being provided from the ministry including money allocation, manpower, and the magistrate to conduct the campaign. All that needs to be done to make people aware. Also, TVCs are being shown for public awareness.

Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam said, "Dengue patients are being treated at DNCC Covid Dedicated Hospital. It is open to all. Corona patients and dengue patients are being treated in separate zones here. This hospital has enough beds. If you are infected with dengue, come to DNCC Covid Hospital for treatment.

Among others, DNCC Chief Executive Officer Md. Salim Reza, Chief Health Officer Brig. Jenna. Md Jobaidur Rahman, Director of DNCC Dedicated Covid Hospital Brig. Jenna. AKM Shafiqur Rahman and DNCC Secretary Mohammad Masood Alam Siddique were present on the occasion.
