A new trust fund titled ‘Alhaj Anwar Hossain Trust Fund’ was established in Dhaka University on Tuesday.
In order to set up this trust fund, Anwar Group Chairman Manwar Hossain handed over a cheque of Tk 20 lakh to University Treasurer Professor Mumtaz Uddin Ahmed.
Ten meritorious students and financially disadvantaged students of different departments of Engineering and Technology Faculty of Dhaka University will get scholarships from the income of the trust fund, said a press release.
Also on the occasion, Anwar Group Chairman Manwar Hossain announced to provide internship to 10 students of engineering and technology faculty in their various industrial establishments.
DU VC Prof. Dr. A S M Maksud Kamal thanked the donor and his family members for setting up the trust fund. He hoped that meritorious as well as financially disadvantaged students of DU Engineering of Technology Faculty would be highly benefited and inspired by the initiative.
The Vice-Chancellor expressed optimism that the involvement and cooperation that started on Tuesday through the formation of a trust fund with Anwar Group will increase further in the future.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. ASM Maksud Kamal was present on this occasion as Chief Guest while Dean of the Faculty of Engineering of Technology of DU Prof. Dr. Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu, Vice-Chairman of Anwar Group Hossain Mehmood, Managing Director of the Group Hossain Khaled, Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker, Director of DU Public Relations Office Mahmood Alam and chairpersons of various departments were also present on this occasion.
