ALCWC meeting today

After long gap for seven months, the ruling Awami League (AL) is going to hold its Central Working Committee (ALCWC) meeting today (Saturday).

The meeting is scheduled to be held at 10:00am at PM’s government residence Ganabhaban. It will be chaired by AL president Sheikh Hasina, also the Prime Minister of the country.

Party sources said the meeting will be held at a limited scale due to Covid-19 and, therefore, all the central leaders might not be part of the meeting.

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader, also the Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, on September 23 in a letter urged the ALCWC members, who have been invited, to join the meeting on time maintaining health guidelines properly.

According to sources, all the invitees have been asked to be appeared at the meeting along with Corona test reports in hands. Only those who are tested negative would be able to take part in the meeting.

Party officials said the scheduled meeting would discuss about many important issues along with the celebration of the birthday of Sheikh Russell, the youngest son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and brother of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, observation of ‘Jail Killing Day on November 3, Nur Hossain Dibos on November 10, Dr Milon Dibos on November 27, Death Anniversary of Hossain Shahid Suhrawardy on December 5 and Martyred Intellectuals Day on December 14, great Victory Day on December 16 and Bangabandhu’s Home Coming Day on January 10 next year.

They also said that the meeting might also finalise both the committees of AL’s Dhaka City North Unit and Dhaka City South Unit.

Besides, Awami League Swechchhasebok League, Krishok League and Shramik League committees might also be finalised.

The meeting might also discuss about the ongoing cleansing operation inside the party and activities of the leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League and other associate bodies.
