AL wins in Savar with 90 per cent votes

Hazi Abdul Goni, the Awami league nominated candidate finally won the mayoral race with 89.90 percent of casting vote, while BNP nominated candidate Alhaz Md Refat Ullah got 8.43 percent votes, and another mayoral candidate named Md Mosharrof Hossein from Islami 

Andolon Bangladesh got only 1.57 percent votes. 

Munir Hossain Khan, senior election officer of Dhaka district, and the returning officer of Savar municipality polls, announced the unofficial result around 9:00 pm on Saturday.

The returning officer said that a total of 63179 votes were casted out of total 188088 votes at 84 voting centers of Savar municipality elections. Among that, 51 votes were considered invalid.

Abdul Goni with the symbol ‘boat’ got a total of 56804 votes, while Refat Ullah got 5330 votes, and Mosharrof Hossein got 994 votes.

On other hand, the returning officer on Sunday morning announced the winners' names of councilor posts. 

According to the announcement, Md Ramjan Ahmed won the councilor post at Ward No. 1, while Nazrul Islam Manik Mollah at Ward No 2 without any contest,  Sanjida Sarmin Mukta at Ward No 3, Nure Alam Siddiqui at Ward No 4, Md Moshiur Rahman Khan at Ward No 5, Alhaz Abdus Sattar at Ward No 6, Md Abdur Rahman at Ward Not 7, Md Selim Miah at Ward No 8 and Anisuzzaman Murad at Ward No 9. 

Besides, Yasmin Akhter, Darfin Akhter and Sultana Razia won the reserved woman councilor posts.
