The triennial conference of Gopinathpur union and Chandradighalia union units of Awami League were held in Gopalganj Sadar on Sunday.
President and the general secretary Sharif Akimul Haque Jantu and Kazi Selim Hossain have been selected as president and the general secretary of Gopinathpur union Awami League once again since there were no competitors of the posts.
Meanwhile, the triennial conference of Awami League’s Chandradighalia union was also held on Sunday but the names of the committee members including the president and the general Secretary have not yet been announced.
The conference of Gopinathpur union was held at Gopinathpur Primary School premises. Presided over by AL President of Gopinathpur, the council session was conducted by Kazi Selim Hossain, General Secretary of AL where President of Gopalganj Sadar upazila and Mayor of Gopalganj Municipality Kazi Liakat Ali attended as the chief guest. Among others, the council was attended, among others, by General Secretary of sadar upazila AL Rafiqul Islam Mintu as Chief Speaker, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Bachchu as the special guest, AL leader Sheikjh Ruhul Amin, Molla Abu Hasan, Razi Uddin Ahmed Razu, Mostahidur Rahman Hiru, Sharif Faruk Rahman, Gazi Mijanur Rahman Hitu, Sharif Faruk Ahmed, Tasbirul Huda Babu, Adv. Sheikh Abul Hasnat, Sharif Aminul Haque Lachchu, Sharif Farid Ahmed, Raisuzzaman and Sharif Enayet Hossain.
On the other hand, the triennial council of AL of Chandra Dighalia Union was held at Chandra Dighhalia High School premises. Presided over by the President of Chandra Dighalia Union AL Molla Abul Kalam Azad, the council session was conducted by General Secretary of Chandra Dighalia AL Abul Bashar Mia while Gopalganj Sadar Upazila President and Mayor of Gopalganj Municipality Kazi Liakat Ali inaugurated the council and Gopalganj Upazila Chairman Sheikh Lutafar Rahman Bachchu attended as the Chief Guest, Sadar Upazila General Secretary Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Mitu attended as special speaker, district AL leader Sheikh Yousuf Harun attended as special guest.
People of the union proposed names of Sabed Ali Bhuiyan, BM Mamun Ur Rashid( Kabir Bhuiyan), Abul Bashar Mia, Abul Kalam Azad and Zabed Mollah as the President candidates while names of Zakir Biswas, Rabiul Islam Bhuiyan and Rajibul Mollah as the General Sectary candidates. The name of the newly formed committee will be announced soon, sources of Chandradighaliya union informed.
