General Secretary of Awami League Obaidul Quader at the inaugural session of the council of Sylhet district and city on Thursday noon has said, Awami League should be saved for the survival of Bangladesh. Expressing his respect for the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the martyred who laid their lives for liberating this country, Obaidul Quader further said, Awami League should be saved to save Freedom struggle and the Democracy of the country, Sheikh Hasina should be saved to rescue Bangladesh. He pledged to build a nascent Awami League to turn Bangladesh to a developing country in 2021 by mingling tradition with the technology.
Obaidul Quader alongwith the central AL leaders arrived at Osmani International Airport around 12-00 noon on Thursday. Hundreds of jubilant leaders and activists of AL thronged with processions carrying colourful posters and festoons, chanting slogans, at Alia Madrasha Playground. A large number of female AL leaders were also seen to attend the council premises.
The inaugural council session was attended, among others, by Joint General Secretary of AL Mahbub ul Alam Hanif, Abdur Rahman, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed, AL Presidium Member Nurul Islam Nahid, AL Central Organising Secretary Ahmad Hossain, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Advocate Misbahuddin Siraj, Cental AL Member Sujit Roy Nandi, Professor Rafiqur Rahman, General Secretary of Sylhet District AL Shafiqur rahman Chowdhury, the President and the General Secretary of Sylhet Metropolitan unit of AL Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran and Asad Uddin Ahmed respectively.
