The ruling Bangladesh Awami League has begun a series of programmes since Monday, February 15, aiming at keeping the political arena under its own control so that conspirators cannot destabilise the country.
Leaders of the ruling party said that the series of programmes, including rallies, discussion meetings and processions will continue till the end of March.
They said that the party has already chalked out all the programmes centring four national functions--the International Mother Language Day on 21st February, the historic speech of Bangabandhu on March 7, the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 17 and the golden jubilee of the independence of Bangladesh on March 26.
It is widely known that Jamaat, anti-liberation forces and other vested quarters are spreading rumours and false news in different ways to confuse people and tarnish the image of Bangladesh as well as its government.
Besides, the BNP is also trying to forge an anti-government movement, and as part of their moves, the party is trying to stage demonstrations. But, sources said that the BNP is not being able to draw public attention and gather their own people due to intra-party feud and leadership crisis.
According to sources in the AL, since the situation created due to COVID-19 pandemic has already started to improve, the ruling party is now determined to become active in the political field.
As part of the series programmes of the AL, the ruling party on Monday held a discussion programme at the capital’s Russell Square. Organised by the Dhaka City North Unit of AL, the discussion meeting was held on the occasion of ‘Killing the Democracy on February 15’ earlier in 2001.
AL general secretary Obaidul Quader, also the Minister for Road, Transport and Bridges, took part at the rally as the chief guest staying at his government residence through video conferencing.
Obaidul Quader also urged party’s leaders, activists, supporters and well-wishers to strengthen the hands of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the eldest daughter of the Father of the Nation.
Earlier, Obaidul Quader announced a series of programmes, including rallies and public relations programmes, from February 15 at all the metropolitan cities, districts, upazilas, thanas, unions and even the ward levels.
Obaidul Quader said that all the leaders in-charge of all the divisions will coordinate the programmes of their respective units in this regard.
