Bangladesh Awami League (AL), one of the country’s oldest political parties, will celebrate its diamond jubilee next year. The party on Friday celebrated its 74th founding anniversary across the country. Marking the anniversary, party president Sheikh Hasina, senior leaders, professionals, academics and political analysts took part in different discussions on Awami League and its motto across the country.
Awami League was founded by the people, for the people and to serve the people - it is the motto of the party. People have full confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the country will be a developed one and also reach its targeted goal within the stipulated time under her leadership. Therefore, the fate of the country’s people will change only if the Awami League remains in power.
The party was established to achieve economic, political, social and cultural emancipation of the people of the country. Change would never have happened if Awami League did not come to power.
The leaders and workers of ruling Awami
League will also have to start
working together to bring
the party back to power to
sustain the momentum of development
Keeping the ideology of party in mind, leaders and workers of Awami League and its associate bodies and front organisations like Awami Jubo League, Awami Swechchhasebak League, Bangladesh Chhatra League, Jatiya Sramik League, Tanti League, Krishak League, Mahila Awami League and Jubo Mahila League will have to gear up organisational activities across the country ahead of the next general elections. They must play a more responsible role towards the nation.
The BNP high command and senior leaders know they do not have any possibility of winning the elections. So, they are trying to make the next national election controversial, create confusion among the people and cause harm to people by any means.
In this regard, the leaders and activists of Awami League will have to focus on the government achievements in the country’s different sectors and social indexes, drawing a comparison between the fag end of BNP regime and Awami League present regime. Only then the common people will understand the reality and they will not be misguided by BNP’s falsehood and propaganda.
The leaders and workers of ruling Awami League will also have to start working together to bring the party back to power to sustain the momentum of development. Awami League has been able to earn people's confidence and trust as people know that their fate has changed since the party came to power. We hope that people will re-elect the Awami League-backed candidates by exercising their franchise again in the next election.
