The Awami League is organising public rallies and mass gatherings  countrywide for the preparation of next general elections.

According to the decision, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also the president of ruling Awami League,  is going to take part in rallies at all the districts and in this week, she would take part in at least three public rallies in Chattogram, Cox’s Baxar and in the capital Dhaka.

Party sources said that according to the party decision, the Awami League already held a dozen mass gatherings and Sheikh Hasina already took part in four rallies. Of them two rallies were held in Suhrawardy Uddayan on the occasions of the council of Jubo League and two units of Dhaka Metropolitan units of Chhatra League. Earlier, she took part at a rally at Jashore and another at capital’s Agargaon.

The Prime Minister is going to take part at a rally at Chattogram today (Sunday). She would take part at another gathering at Suhrawary Udyan in December on the occasion of 30th Council of Bangladesh Chhatra League on December 6 while the Prime Minister would take part at another mass gathering on December 7 at Cox’sbazar.

Through these mass gatherings at different districts in participation with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Awami League would show the organisational strength and highlight the development activities of the government.

Party sources said, Awami League thinks that BNP will participate in the parliamentary elections this time. That's why the next election would be  more challenging. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given such type of hints in all party forums. She said that the selection of candidates has already started.

However, sources said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is not satisfied with the publicity of the development activities done during her government in last three consecutive terms. In the last meeting of the party's executive committee, she said, Awami League has been in power for 14 years. It is being viewed negatively. But the development works done in 14 years are not being publicized. People of the country should be knowing about the development activities of the government.

Party sources also said that the central council of the Awami League would be held on December 24 and before it, the party is going to complete councils of all the units of the party. Besides, councils of different affiliated bodies are almost completed.

The sources said, the ruling party wants to complete the reorganization of the Awami League before the next general election.
