Youths lacking knowledge of career trends and scopes for skills development can now log in to career.albd.org and get access to career workshops initiated by the government geared towards delivering on its promises in the 2018-election manifesto focusing on youths.
Signing up on the website, they will be able to browse through the gamut of career choices and register for the one that fits their interest, knowledge, and aspiration.
The initiative, titled ‘Career Workshop: Initiatives to develop youth efficiency and work-plan’, officially debuted on Saturday and the website will accept applications till midnight of January 30.
Through this joint initiative of the Awami League and its research wing Center for Research and Information (CRI), youths will get free access to knowledge of career options, customised content for skills development, and will be able to interact with resource persons.
The virtual platform will cluster youths with the same choice and then dole out customized written and visual content in addition to offering them direct interactions with the resource persons of relevant arenas.
“Bangladesh Awami League wants to support each family with an overarching purpose to help youths explore their potential. Under the initiative of AL sub-committee on education and human resources and AL's research wing CRI, they have taken up this initiative to support youths as the first political party in South Asia to come up with such a massive initiative,” said the Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.
Youths in Bangladesh often remain in dark about the kind of career that helps them become their best versions. While familial and social pressures limit their choices to become a doctor, a lawyer, or an engineer, the professional spectrum in the real world has turned much broader than most think of. Even if a youth wants to pursue his career in the medical landscape, becoming a doctor is not the sole option as the expertise in nursing or medical equipment can be equally paying off.
This career workshop will inform youths of diverse career options and guide them to pick up the one that best suits them, said CRI.
Around 47.6 million people are youths in the country, which is now enjoying a demographic dividend, a time when youths dominate the population.
To realize the enormous potential of this staggering youth population, to advance the vision of Digital Bangladesh, and to thrive in the fourth industrial revolution, we must equip them with the tools and methods that would work as a springboard for their career and growth.
With the Coronavirus pandemic taking a toll on mankind, the essence of skills development and the contribution of youths in every sector are more strongly felt than before, they added.
