AL leaders pay homage to Bangabandhu at Tungipara

People from all walks of life including central leaders of Awami League paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at his grave in Tungipara in Gopalganj on the occasion of Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of homecoming of Bangabandhu, the leaders reached Tungipara on Monday morning and paid homage by laying wreaths at his grave.

After reciting the holy Surah Fatiha and Durood, the leaders took part in special prayers for the souls of Bangabandhu and all the martyrs killed in his family on 15 August 1975, wishing good health to Bangabandhu's worthy daughter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Member of Awami League’s central committee Former chief whip Abul Hasnat Abdullah, former minister Lt Colonel (Retd) Muhammad Farooq Khan, State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, whip Abu Saeed Khan Mahmud Swapan, members of parliament Sheikh Sarhan Naser Tanmoy and Wasika Ayesha Khan, Awami League Organizing Secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain were present in Tungipara.

Also present were Industry and Commerce Secretary Siddiqur Raman, Tungipara Upazila Awami League President Sheikh Abul Bashar Khair, General Secretary Babul Sheikh, Municipal Mayor Sheikh Tozammel Haque Tutul, 

Upazila Nirbahi Officer AKM Hedayetul Islam, former Municipal Mayor Elias Hossain Sardar and other leaders of Awami League and allied organizations.

Later, on the occasion, State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and MP of Bagerhat-2 constituency Sheikh Sarhan Naser Tanmoy distributed winter clothes (blankets) among the cold hit people in Tungipara.

Earlier in the morning, the district administration led by Gopalganj Deputy Commissioner Shahida Sultana, the police administration led by Superintendent of Police Ayesha Siddique and the Upazila administration led by Tungipara Upazila Nirbahi Officer AKM Hedayetul Islam, paid their respects at the tomb of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion.
